Firm Background

Mary Delaney Krugman Associates, Inc., Historic Preservation Consultants (MDKA), is based in Montclair, New Jersey. This woman-owned firm was founded in 1995 and incorporated in 1997.

The firm's expertise is focused on historical research, architectural history, preservation planning, and assistance with regulatory compliance in matters involving historic resources. Among the past projects of the firm are:

  • National Register nominations and applications for certification of National Register eligibility

  • Federal rehabilitation tax credits projects

  • Design consultations in rehabilitation projects where the proposed activities were required to comply with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties and related guidelines

  • Expert testimony in land use matters

  • Training workshops for historic preservation commissions
MDKA also has the ability to assemble a project team that includes professionally qualified subcontractors in the fields of engineering, architecture, and archaeology whenever these services are required by clients.

Firm Principal

Mary Delaney Krugman is founder and president of MDKA and serves as its Principal Preservation Specialist. She holds the degree of Master of Science in Historic Preservation as well as a Juris Doctor degree. Although not in current legal practice, she remains a member of the bar in the District of Columbia and the State of New Jersey, where she practiced law prior to founding MDKA.  Resume
