Historical Research

Historical research and documentation are the foundation stones upon which all historic preservation projects must rest. An accurate record of the evolution of a property and its culturally significant associations is critical to a supportable interpretation and sensitive and appropriate treatments in rehabilitation and/or restoration projects.

MDKA has built a strong reputation for meticulous historical research, based comprehensive data gathering and analysis. The firm provides clients with professional services in historical research and documentation of historic buildings, structures, objects, historic districts, and cultural sites. Services include the preparation of Phase I reports, nominations to the National Register of Historic Places and applications for certification of National Register-eligibility, local landmark designations, among other things.
